Just as the Paleo diet that pretends to imitate (as far as possible) the food that our ancestors carried, has become popular, today we see a trend in training regarding imitating the exercise and physical activity performed by the Paleolithic men. A new alternative to be fit is then, sign up for paleotraining.
What is paleotraining?
The current lifestyle, in the midst of modernity, leads us to have a training or at least a daily physical activity very different from that of the paleolithic men who wore strong and robust but very lean bodies. In addition, they enjoyed very good health compared to the current population that is surrounded by preventable chronic diseases.
In order to recover the health and physical qualities of our ancestors, in addition to following a Paleo diet, it is proposed to train in the Paleo style, with movements originating in the middle of nature without sophisticated equipment and with functional exercises, that is, they prepare us for day to day and involve everyday gestures.
In this way, the bases of paleotraining are very similar to those of calisthenics, where it is sought above all, to mobilize different muscle groups correctly to gain strength with safety and agility.
Before the movement arose from the need to feed, so the basic and daily activity was to hunt and collect food, but with the arrival of modernity and industry all this has changed having a negative impact on the health of our body.
And although paleotraining does not propose to hunt animals or collect fruits and vegetables to eat, it does intend to approach an imitation of the way our ancestors moved, using as we have said, functional movements that involve different groups at the same time and pretend gain flexibility, agility and muscular strength especially.
Paleotraining exercises
Although the paleotraining exercises are intended to imitate natural movements of the human being and can be performed without any equipment or in the midst of nature with objects that we find there, it is always advisable to take care of the execution technique during training and adapt the intensity of the Routine to each person.
For this, a routine can be very suitable indoors or outdoors but always guided and supervised by a professional, so that we achieve good gestures in each exercise and so, little by little we can increase the intensity of training together with the strength of our body.
The movements include movement, loading and unloading of heavy objects, pushing and pulling as well as jumps of all kinds. And among the exercises are those that we can see in the following video:
As we can see, in addition to squats and push-ups that are basic exercises that we can find in any routine, paleotraining includes jumps to all types of objects, rope climbing, muscle ups to climb to high surfaces, crab step and bear step as different displacements, among other movements that allow to gain strength, coordination and tonicity while burning calories.
It is a very complete training that mobilizes the weight of the body although it can also involve lifting or dragging heavy objects such as a tire, a log or a rock if we practice it outdoors.
Many exercises are also used in Crossfit and demand great effort from our body, hence its effectiveness to help us be fit without getting bored, without machines or dumbbells but with elements of nature or without any equipment.
Paleotraining is not a panacea
Just like the paleo diet, paleotraining is not a panacea because it is not the magic or definitive solution to all our health problems, but although it is an excellent option to work the muscles and get fit, we can also go to other alternatives and Of course, we must complement the training with a proper lifestyle.
Training the Paleo style but eating very badly and living stressed as well as smoking and drinking alcohol in excess will not benefit your health, therefore, here it is important that we consider paleotraining as a good training modality to get fit and work in full, but we must always look at the whole and remember that your practice alone will not give the expected results.
