Hi guys,
Want to intro myself and my Zook,
Currently live in Goulburn, NSW work as an antenna Tech
Have had the car about 6 months now, bought as a stocker 2001 model i have since fitted-
50mm body lift
235/75 15 bighorns on king rims
Full rear draw set
M18a vvt engine conversion (from 2005 liana)
Full S/S exhaust
ARB towbar
ARB bull bar
Has been a great project so far, particularly learning just how smart Suzuki was when building their engines!
Currently am using the car for work but will sadly be selling in a few months as i feel i will eventually ruin it using it for work (Rather get a rodeo or lux that i don't care so much about....anyway,
Enjoy some pic's
The engine conversion is very easy, just have to find an engine with reasonably low K's (20,000 for mine, LUCKY!!)
put both engines together on a bench and swap everything over!!
Engine mounts, sump, alternator, gearbox, water pump, water outlets, main pulley, Exhaust manifold etc SWAP STRAIGHT OVER!
If your jimny is pre vvt then things get a bit messy with wiring but if you have a vvt jimny you can plug your loom straight in and just change computer/pinouts and imobilizer!
I don't think a non vvt ecu will run a vvt motor!
I have pinout diagrams for the 2001 jimny and the liana and they are different, meaning if you plug the ecu into the loom unchanged the pins will not match up with wires on the loom.
I also can say that a 2004 jimny pinout is different from a 2001 model jimny because i have both here!
If i was to do the transplant again on a non vvt jimny i would use the m16a from the pre vvt liana myself!
Engine mounts bolt straight onto the block! as far as i can tell suzuki have used the same block and head castings for ALL m series engines, some are just machined differently, so body lift is not necessary.
I used the jimny sump and pick up, the only problem here is you need to re-drill the dipstick hole in the rear of the head and then plug the front hole. it's not a problem though as suzuki in it's wisdom have made provision for this
The oil filter could be swaped to screw straight into the block as on m13a, but i like the angle adaptor that comes with the liana motor as it makes filter changes a bit easier (does limit filter size though)
I used the liana clutch as is an Exedy, had to machine the liana flywheel about 3mm to give more room for the throw out bearing! their is no reason you can't use the jimny flywheel and clutch though (might slip a bit)
At first it was for me, but i got the hang of it!
First you need this stuff(jimny and liana pinouts)...
then you grab your three ecu plugs and pull up the long flat tab at the back of each one...
than use a needle type tool to push into the front of each plug and remove the wire till you end up with...
Then you have to re-insert the wires to match up with what the liana ecu pinout list says they should be, and push the long tab down again...EASY
A few more pics with the new air box!
Got it from a ce lancer (needed a few mods )
